Shades of Yellow

 Since the age of five, my dream was to become an author. Even before I knew how to spell, I could often be found perched at my kitchen table as I narrated stories to my mom, or whomever else I could enlist to transcribe my words onto the page. 

        Some of my earliest memories include books: Little Red Riding Hood, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Little Engine that Could. These bedtime stories fueled my early desire to write stories of my own. There was something so satisfying about the inevitable happily ever after.

        I began writing my first novel in sixth grade during a creative writing elective in my middle school. I remember telling my English teacher, "I'm going to publish this one day." It took another eight years to whip the manuscript into shape, but that very novel, Shades of Yellow, will be released in May 2025.
